This summer, my son, Adam, participated in the JR SLICC program through the Volunteer Center of Greensboro. I have to say that this experience could possibly be one of the better things that has happened to him. Through this experience, he learned about the needs of the Greensboro community, developed an inspiring work ethic and met some wonderful people. He is the first from his group to complete all 100 hours and still volunteers. We are so proud of him!

From the Volunteer Center of Greensboro's website:
" SLICC helps young people connect community service to other forms of civic engagement by combining learning activities with community service and reflection. After participating in SLICC, youth understand the importance of active citizenship and have the knowledge and skills necessary to actively serve their community.

Campers spend part of each day learning from experts in the field and engaging in critical thinking activities and reflection exercises. The rest of the day is spent putting what they’ve learned into action through service learning projects at the host nonprofit."
